We had our wedding at KVBR and the most common way that anyone, including those who weren't there and just saw photos, describes our big day is 'magical'.

Our night before dinner in the Guest Lounge was absolutely cosy and gorgeous. The KVBR facilities and accommodation are second to none and the staff have thought of everything to make hosting an event there so much easier than other venues. Waking up in our rooms on the most sparkly morning that Kangaroo Valley could offer kicked off the best day ever - views from the cabins are exceptional. The venue staff, including caterers and wait staff of Rabbit & Co, were so incredibly kind and helpful. The wedding planning resources, recommendations of amazing vendors and assistance of KVBR managers, Niall and Maddy, on the day, was instrumental in making our big day happy, special and spectacular for everyone. The views at KVBR are breathtaking and the Sunset Deck is the best idea. There is nothing like marrying the love of your life in a place as beautiful and magical as the Rock Cathedral. And the Function Room used for the reception was so lovely! The fireplace and the festoon lights create the best mood and being able to design the table arrangement the way you want is so convenient.

On our final day at KVBR after the wedding, we had plenty of time to keep admiring the venue and the landscape before check out.

​We got engaged and started looking for wedding venues not too long after the Summer bushfires of 2019/2020. We knew we wanted to be married in Kangaroo Valley, so when we stumbled across the Bush Retreat’s website and saw the photos of the Rock Cathedral, we KNEW we had to book the venue then and there. There was only one problem, the Retreat had sadly been burnt down in the fires. This didn’t deter us though. Communication with the site manager was always so friendly and easy and we had total faith the team would create a magical venue once again. So without a site visit, any concrete venue layout or idea of what it would look like once completed, we booked Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat and it was the greatest wedding planning decision we have made.

Right from the very beginning, the Bush Retreat were so kind and easy to work with. Always very quick to respond to any questions we had and so accommodating the whole way. The entire team have been absolutely incredible. I know a lot of brides/couples say this, but our wedding was the most amazing day of our lives and that is largely thanks to the Bush Retreat and the team’s hard work, enthusiasm and attention to detail. The onsite-managers were particularly amazing to work with on the wedding weekend. They were kind, approachable and so enthusiastic. The brand-new facilities were immaculate and everything we could have dreamed of. Getting ready with my bridesmaids in the beautiful bridal suite was exactly as I had always envisioned. Every space at the Bush Retreat felt so organic and peaceful and very well thought out. The Rock Cathedral was like something from a dream. It was a magical place to be married and so perfectly maintained by the staff. The entire weekend, the guests kept commenting on how truly breathtaking the whole venue was, particularly the Rock Cathedral and Sunset Deck. There were endless opportunities for beautiful photos that we will have to treasure for a lifetime.

Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat ticked everything off our venue wish list. Somewhere in a location we love, somewhere where we could have as many of our guests stay on site as possible (as a lot came from interstate), was disabled friendly and somewhere that you could sit back in front of a fire, relax and catch up. The fact that you can have the whole place to yourselves for three days and have a 'mini holiday' while getting married was an added bonus (and trust me, you wish it were longer! The three days absolutely fly by). The stunning Rock Cathedral is like no other place in the world and holds a magical feeling and the rebuilt facilities and accommodation (so comfy!) enhance the natural beauty of the location. We just wish the freak wind storm on our actual wedding day allowed us to make full use of the Sunset Deck in the afternoon - what a spectacular view over the Kangaroo Valley river!
We really could not fault the venue at all, nor the staff. We had a few guests with mobility issues and they had no trouble in the accommodation or getting around onsite (especially with the assistance of the bush wheelchair). Being an organisational freak, I absolutely loved the detail and amount of resources available to help make your day run as smoothly as possible (the wedding bible is a god send!). The communicative qualities of Lizzy, Jen & the team definitely made KVBR stand out to us above other venues when we were doing our initial research.
Everyone had such a great time and all went away saying how special it was to have the quality time together in such a beautiful location (especially after Covid lockdowns). We would certainly rebook this venue in a heartbeat if we could."

My wife and I would love to extend a massive thank you to all those at the Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat for making the best day of our lives happen so smoothly- it was truly amazing. Lizzy has been a great source of information and was always contactable, making the planning for the biggest day of our lives much easier. They had a wealth of knowledge and resources that we could access straight away which guided us along the way to save us reinventing the wheel and ensuring we didn’t miss a thing.
The site managers, Madison and Niall, were so lovely to deal with and made our experience throughout the weekend very comfortable. The venue was absolutely incredible, second to none.
The facilities are incredibly modern and definitely add to the charm of the venue- we were constantly complimented by all our guests who were very impressed. Our favourite part being the Rock Cathedral and the Sunset Deck (providing uninterrupted views across the valley) were all we could have ever hoped for and more. We couldn’t think of anywhere more perfect to tie the knot.
We always wanted our wedding be relaxing and stress free for us and all our guests, and with the help of the Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat we definitely achieved this. We had amazing time, thank you again for all those involved.

We have to say Maddy and Niall are such an asset to KVBR! Their professionalism, their friendly nature, their interest in us, their dedication to make sure everyone and everything was attended to with such care was appreciated. When we owned a restaurant we always valued great staff. Both of them run KVBR as if it’s their own, and for that we are truly grateful.

The weather and the venue was absolutely incredible! Our guest staying on and off site could not believe how beautiful the setting was, especially the Rock Cathedral and the sunset deck. The sunset deck, not a breath of wind, ensured everyone enjoyed the best views Kangaroo Valley has to offer!
A Current Affair we’re blown away with the venue and all the extras that we organised to make sure our family and friends will never forget the most precious wedding day for Victoria and Nathan!

From our very first site visit we knew we had to get married at KVBR, we had visited other venues we would have been happy to get married at but we both agreed being at the bush retreat made us want to get married "here, tomorrow". It's not just that somehow the rock cathedral and view from the sunset deck are even more magical than pictures could ever capture. It was also the team. We emailed to book in the first available weekend date before we had reversed out of the parking spot.
I realise now that we had huge expectations, but we were not even close to disappointed.
Our first, and lasting impression, was that the team were the perfect balance of organised/all over it and relaxed. Everything you want and need for a wedding festival.

From the moment Matt and I read the information brochure on Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat, and inspected the property we knew that we wanted to get married there. We did not inspect any other venues - we locked it in that day. We were looking for a place that was a little different, had room for most of our guests to stay and a celebration that went over a few days. Weddings go by too quickly, and we really wanted to slow it down and take it all in with our loved ones. And it is Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat that made that happen.

Not only is Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat breathtaking in every way, the staff are beyond wonderful. Like most people, I have never planned a wedding before. At the beginning, I didn’t really know where to start and how to progress - but with the support from the staff at KVBR they were able to guide me in the right direction. They are a wealth of information, and provide invaluable brochures and templates to assist with planning, booking and timelines. I think without their guidance, I would have really struggled to plan our wedding as smoothly as I did. I even had other vendors commend me on the details of my run sheet - which was a template given by KVBR to use, all designed around sunset time to ensure those wonderful sunset photos.

Aside from the planning, push forward to arriving at KVBR on wedding eve. We were greeted by the wonderful managers, and had meetings with our vendors. We eased into wedding eve by hiring a pizza truck to cook pizzas for our guests. We were able to chat and welcome our guests to this wonderful venue. On our wedding day we were hit with a unexpected windy day, which meant that a few minor changes were made. However the staff are resilient and caring in their approach to ensure that the day went as smoothly as possible. The venue itself is breathtaking. Matt and I actually booked KVBR prior to the fires in 2019, so the rebuild is different to what we had originally booked. However it is phenomenal - words cannot do it justice. You just have to see for yourself. The owners should be so proud of what they have built. We loved it before, but we love it even more now. The rooms are spectacular. So much thought has gone into the styling and design of the rooms. It is luxe and I would be stoked to have that accommodation if I were a guest. The same goes for the Bridal Suite and Den. So much care has gone into these designs and it really shows. They are built for a wedding and photos, and it is so clear to see that. The Rock Cathedral is magical. I love the raw, natural feel of the Rob Cathedral. You can either have it highly styled or take a step back and have styling to a minimum to let the natural beauty speak for itself. Which is what Matt and I did. Even though it was windy, it was protected enough at the Rock Cathedral and our guests loved the ceremony location. The views from the Sunset Deck are second to none. If you want magical photos, and those breathtaking moments for yourself and your guests. This is the place.
The reception hall is also so beautiful. Dimming lights to set the mood, some hanging floristry, an indoor fire place which was perfect for our May wedding, a very spacious layout for our 84 guests, a generous dancefloor, easy access to the outdoor area, bar and amenities. We could not want anything more from a venue - and we got it all in one place.
The onsite caterers - Rabbit and Co were exceptional. Everyone raved about the food, and the service from all staff - there was not a moment where I didn’t have a drink in hand. They were attentive and checked in on us throughout the night to ensure that everything was going as planned - which it did. Matt and I wanted to ensure that our guests were well fed and had drinks. And I can assure you, they nailed the brief. We had a grazing table, canapes, a banquet feast, desserts and feasters later in the night. It was absolutely perfect.
Other things that KVBR provide which just add to its value - the shared alfresco area and guest lounge. Perfect for the early risers or those with kids. And even the view from out the back is wonderful. We used the fire in the Boma both nights. It was a perfect way to ease into the celebration and finish them off on the wedding night too.

There is really nothing that they haven’t thought of at KVRB. I wish I could do it all over again, because it was amazing. If you are looking to have a wedding that slows down and doesn’t pass too quickly, with the most natural beauty, amazing accommodation on site for your guests, delicious food and the most valuable minds and help from staff in the planning and execution of your day - then KVBR is your venue. I am really hoping that one of my friends gets married here so I can enjoy this amazing venue again!
